While PrivadoVPN may not be the fastest around, or boast the largest server network, it does offer users access to all the key features which make up a quality VPN service.

Pros

  • Budget Friendly Pricing for Monthly Plans
  • Successfully Unblocks Streaming Platforms
  • Based in Switzerland w/ No Logs Policy

Cons

  • Middling Performance
  • Modest Server Network
  • Lacks Full WireGuard Support (For Now)

Accessibility

4.7/5

Right off the bat, PrivadoVPN boasts high levels of accessibility, supporting most of the major operating systems today, including,

  • Windows
  • Android
  • macOS
  • iOS
  • FireTV
  • Android TV

Notable omissions include both Linux, and browser integration.

Beyond its reach across operating systems, PrivadoVPN boasts a modest but growing server network.  While it does not indicate an exact number, PrivadoVPN states that its network spans 44 countries, with hundreds of servers in total.

An area where PrivadoVPN does shine, is its ability to unblock streaming platforms subject to geo-based restrictions.  This means that regardless of where you are travelling, you should have no issues finding a server which will allow continued access to your favourite content.

For those that make use of peer-2-peer file sharing, rest assured that PrivadoVPN will work just fine.  It states that it offers support for SOCKS5 proxies, ensuring maximum privacy during such activities.

Security Features

4.7/5

On the security front, PrivadoVPN is comparable with the best of them, featuring,

  • Kill Switch
  • AES-256 Encryption
  • DNS Leak Protection
  • SOCKS5 Proxy
  • Split Tunnelling

Cumulatively, these security features mean than PrivadoVPN users can browse the internet free of fear.  Data is encrypted, specific apps can be routed through the VPN, and access can be automatically terminated in the event of a dropped VPN connection.

Privacy

3.8/5

An area where PrivadoVPN has the potential to shine is on the privacy front.  To be a serious contender here, a VPN service must not only have a good track record showing no data breaches, but simultaneously boast a no-logs policy (with accompanying audit) while operating in a country boasting strong privacy/data retention laws.  PrivadoVPN passes on all accounts – but only just.

The company states that it is, “…a no-log VPN based in Switzerland, which means that we don’t track any of your online activity and your account is protected by the world’s best privacy laws.”  While the company may not log any data, it does collect basic information such as which devices are being used to connect to its service, emails, etc.

Furthermore, while top VPNs often boast audits, backing up no-logging claims, PrivadoVPN has yet to do so.

Performance

4/5

Currently, PrivadoVPN supports both OpenVPN and Wireguard (not yet available on macOS) on the majority of operating systems.  As the two most popular protocols around, the is a good first step.

Unfortunately, speeds typically seen don’t stack up to other services.  While they are certainly fast enough to continue streaming like normal, one must take this in to consideration when comparing PrivadoVPN to rivals.

Purchasing

4.5/5

Purchasing PrivadoVPN is not only simple, it is cheap when compared to top options in the sector.  The prices range from $4.99 to $7.99/month.

With regards to payment, PrivadoVPN accepts:

  • Credit Cards
  • PayPal
  • Cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, LTC, USDC, etc.)

On top of this, PrivadoVPN boasts a free version of its service, allowing for users to trial what it has on offer before committing to a longer term.  It should be noted that this free variant is subjected to a data cap of 10gb, only allows for 1 connection at a time, and is limited to server access in select cities.

Conclusion

4.3/5

If it isn’t obvious by now, PrivadoVPN is a middle-of-the-pack service.  This is not necessarily a bad thing in some cases though.  Not everyone needs blazing download speeds, support for lesser used operating systems, etc.  Thankfully, the price of PrivadoVPN reflects its shortcomings, allowing it to still be a viable candidate for consideration among many.

While PrivadoVPN may not boast all the features of top-end offerings in the sector today, it is quickly improving on what it has to offer.  Don’t be surprised that if in a year, PrivadoVPN scores a few extra points.
