What is LanguaTalk?
LanguaTalk is an online language learning platform that helps you develop speaking confidence through live tutoring and an AI conversation tool called Langua. It combines lessons taught by tutors with AI practice that uses natural-sounding voices for real conversation.
The core feature that makes Langua different is its AI conversation feature. These voices aren’t robotic; rather, they’re cloned from actual native speakers. That means when you’re practicing a new language, it sounds like you’re talking to a real person.
How LanguaTalk Works
You can either use LanguaTalk online or through their app available for iOS or Android. From there, go to your settings, pick your target language, and jump into conversations immediately. The AI will automatically adapt to your level.
The conversations aren’t just random. You can do role plays (like talking about travel or living in a new country) or have discussions about topics that actually interest you. This makes learning feel real and keeps you engaged rather than feeling like homework.
Vocabulary System
One feature that’s easy to overlook is the flashcard system. When you’re having conversations and come across words you don’t know, you can save them right there by clicking on them. Then Langua turns them into flashcards and weaves those words back into future conversations and stories.
This integration between conversation practice and vocabulary building is something other apps just don’t do well. Duolingo teaches you random sentences like “the elephant eats apples,” but Langua focuses on words you actually encounter and need.
Human Tutors
If you want to accelerate your progress even more, Langua also offers one-on-one lessons with actual human tutors. They only accept the top 5% of tutor applications, making it highly selective.
The tutors are available for 16 languages, and you can filter by schedule and budget to find someone who works for you. Booking only takes seconds.
LanguaTalk vs. Alternatives
The big differentiator between LanguaTalk and the competition is the AI conversation quality and the fact that it’s available 24/7. You don’t need to schedule lessons or wait for a tutor. You can practice at 6 AM before work or at midnight when you can’t sleep. The flexibility is unmatched.
On top of that, the monthly subscription is much cheaper than private lessons. You get unlimited AI conversation practice for one price instead of paying per lesson.
Who is LanguaTalk Best For?
Here’s who LanguaTalk is best for:
- Busy language learners seeking immersive speaking practice without waiting for scheduled lessons.
- Students who want immediate error correction with non-judgmental feedback to build confidence.
- Beginners and intermediate learners who want to blend AI language coaching with live tutor sessions for targeted learning.
- Those aiming to specifically improve their vocabulary by saving words encountered in conversations and reinforcing them through flashcards and AI-generated stories.

- Go to Settings
- Choose a Language
- Speak with AI
- Choose a Topic
- Begin a Conversation
- Adjust the Settings
- Reveal Mistakes
- Check & Explain Mistakes
- Add Words to Your Vocabulary
- Learn Vocab with Flashcards
- Practice Vocab with Flashcards
Step 1: Sign up for LanguaTalk

I started by going to languatalk.com and signing up.
Step 2: Go to Settings

Before diving into the features, you’ll want to check your settings and choose the language you want to learn. To do this, scroll down and select “Settings.”
Step 3: Choose a Language

Within the settings, there are four tabs:
- Learning Settings
- Chat Settings
- Subscription
- My Information
Go through each tab to ensure your settings are correct. You’ll definitely want to make sure the correct language you want to learn is selected in the “Learning Settings.”
Step 4: Speak with AI

Back on the main page (“My Activity Hub”), were LanguaTalk’s features to help me learn a new language:
- Speak with AI
- Watch a video
- Listen to a podcast
- Learn vocabulary with flashcards
- Import articles or videos
- See imported content
I decided to start with “Speak with AI.”
Step 5: Choose a Topic

I was presented with a couple of ways to speak with AI:
- Guided course
- Chat about anything
- Do a role play
- Have a debate
- Vocab & games
- Grammar practice
- Design my own
I chose “Chat about anything.”

From there, I was given three more options:
- General conversation
- My life
- Chat with lots of slang (intermediate +)
I liked that LanguaTalk gave me different options based on my experience level. I kept it simple and went with “General conversation.”
Step 6: Begin a Conversation

My conversation with AI began immediately. I had the option to type or record myself by giving LanguaTalk microphone access.
I was actually on the train when I started my conversation with AI, so I liked having the option to speak aloud or type my responses. I also appreciated the suggested responses in case I was really lost.
Step 7: Adjust the Settings

That kicked off the conversation, and the AI immediately responded.
Beyond the conversation itself, there were options to hear the conversation, control the speed, and turn guided mode on or off.
Step 8: Reveal Mistakes

Selecting the pencil next to your response will reveal any mistakes.
Step 9: Check & Explain Mistakes

You can then select “Check & explain” to see what you got right, what you missed, and why.
LanguaTalk will point out mistakes made in the response. In this case: verb tense, conjugation, word order, and meaning.
Step 10: Add Words to Your Vocabulary

If you ever come across words you’re unfamiliar with during a conversation, you can select them right in the conversation and hit the “+” to add them to your vocabulary and use them as flashcards. Beyond flashcards, Langua will even weave those words back into future conversations and stories.
Step 11: Learn Vocab with Flashcards

To access your flashcards, select “My Activity Hub” and then “Learn vocab with flashcards.”

The word was added to my vocabulary under “Recently added.”
Step 12: Practice Vocab with Flashcards

To access the flashcards and familiarize yourself with specific words, select “Recall” at the top.
Overall, LanguaTalk made it easy to dive into conversations and see my progress immediately. It gave me a solid mix of practice, feedback, and tools that helped me build confidence fast.
