Step 1: Enter Your Email Address

I started by going to Wix.com and entering my email address.

Step 2: Design a New Website

I already had a website created and wanted to start from scratch. To do this, I selected the three dots next to “Design Site” and hit “Create new site.”

Step 3: Describe Your Website

Immediately, Wix’s AI chatbot asked me to describe what my website was all about. I gave it the following prompt:

“My site shares articles and insights on artificial intelligence, aimed at educating and engaging readers.”

Step 4: Name Your Website

Next, Wix asked me to choose a site name.

Step 5: Describe the Content

From there, it asked me what type of content I wanted to create. Here’s what I gave it:

“Unite will feature articles, tutorials, news updates, in-depth analyses, and expert insights on artificial intelligence. The content will cover AI technologies, trends, ethical considerations, practical applications, and emerging research aimed at educating and engaging readers interested in AI.”

Step 6: Describe Your Goals

Next, Wix asked me to outline my additional goals for the website. For example, was the goal to build community or monetize?

Here’s what I gave it:

“My additional goals for Unite include building a knowledgeable and engaged community around artificial intelligence, fostering discussions and idea-sharing among readers, and eventually exploring monetization options such as premium content, sponsored posts, or partnerships to support the site’s growth and sustainability.”

Step 7: Describe the Selling Point

Lastly, Wix asked me what the unique selling points for my website were that would set it apart from other AI websites. Here’s what I said:

“Unite stands apart by combining clear, accessible explanations of complex AI concepts with up-to-date insights and practical applications, making artificial intelligence understandable and relevant to both beginners and experienced readers. Additionally, Unite aims to foster an inclusive community where diverse perspectives on AI ethics, innovation, and impact are actively encouraged and discussed.”

Step 8: Go to the Dashboard

The final step was going to my personalized dashboard. I hit “Go to Dashboard.”

Step 9: Design Your Site

In my dashboard, Wix generated a list of tasks to complete to set up my business:

• Connect a custom domain

• Review your generated events

Before dealing with anything technical, I wanted to design my website. I hit “Design Site” on the top right.

Step 10: Generate a Design with AI

Wix presented me with two ways I could design my website:

• Choose a Template: Explore thousands of designs and personalize the one you like.
• Create a Design with AI: Instantly get a custom site design.

I selected “Create a Design with AI” to see what Wix’s AI could do.

Step 11: Generate a Site Brief

Immediately, Wix began generating a site brief for the first version of my website.

I could get AI to regenerate or tweak the site brief it generated, or I could click on the things I wanted to change (e.g., site profile or layout). Wix would generate a new version every time.

Once I was happy with the design, I hit “Continue with this Design” at the bottom.

Step 12: Edit the Fonts & Layout

Overall, I was pretty impressed with what Wix originally came up with. However, I wanted to try changing the font to something more modern.

To do this, I selected “layout” from the site brief.

Selecting “layout” opened a chatbot where I could ask Wix to make the layout cleaner, add more text, etc. I wanted the titles to be sans serif, so that’s what I told Wix.

Immediately, Wix began generating a new variation of my layout. It effortlessly changed the title from sans serif to serif and made the first section of the website a bit more engaging with a different layout.

While I wanted the layout to stay the same and all of the titles on the page to be sans serif, Wix still ultimately did what I asked it to.

Step 13: Continue with the Design

I exited the chatbot and selected “Continue with this Design.”

Step 14: Continue to the Editor

From here, I could complete my site with a domain, continue to the editor, or set up my business. I decided to continue to the editor.

Step 15: Manually Make Edits

The Wix Editor presented a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface that made it easy to customize elements, rearrange sections, and fine-tune the overall design without needing any coding knowledge. I could click anywhere in the preview and instantly edit text or adjust spacing with just a few simple actions.

Step 16: Save, Preview, & Publish

Once I was happy with everything, I could hit save, preview, and publish on the top right.

Overall, the Wix website builder made it simple to go from an idea to a functional site in just a few steps.
