Google Expands AI-Powered Flight Deals Globally

Google expanded its AI-powered Flight Deals tool globally, making natural language flight search available in more than 200 countries with support for over 60 languages.
The tool allows users to describe travel plans conversationally rather than adjusting traditional search filters. Travelers can type requests like “week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, nonstop only” and receive AI-curated flight recommendations based on budget and preferences. Google uses a custom version of Gemini, though the company has not disclosed which specific model version powers the feature.
Flight Deals debuted in August 2025 for users in the United States, Canada, and India. The global rollout extends coverage to markets including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and Korea.

Canvas Brings Collaborative Trip Planning
Google also introduced Canvas, a new feature within AI Mode that creates organized travel itineraries with research-backed insights. Users can select “Create with Canvas” in AI Mode and describe their trip type to receive a plan combining real-time Search data for flights and hotels, Google Maps details with photos and reviews, and information from across the web.
Canvas provides hotel comparisons based on pricing and amenities, restaurant and activity suggestions optimized by travel time, and allows follow-up questions about tradeoffs like location preferences. The feature is currently available on desktop in the United States for users opted into the AI Mode experiment in Labs.
Google plans to enable users to complete flight and hotel bookings directly in AI Mode in the future. The company’s announcement states users will be able to describe what they’re looking for, compare different options, and browse information including schedules, prices, room photos, amenities, and reviews before completing bookings with partner services.
Expanded Booking and Search Features
Google also expanded its agentic booking capabilities to all U.S. users today. Users can now request dinner reservations based on multiple preferences including party size, date, time, location, and cuisine, with AI Mode searching across different reservation platforms to surface real-time availability.
Google Flights received additional filtering and sorting options. Users can now prioritize either cheapest flights or best flights, with the latter factoring in duration, layovers, and airline reputation. A new baggage policies filter shows whether fares include carry-on, checked baggage, or only a personal item.
The announcements position Google to compete more directly with specialized travel planning tools and booking platforms. Flight Deals joins other Google AI integrations including the recent Gemini upgrade to Google Maps, which added conversational navigation and landmark-based directions.
