Google Debuts Pomelli AI Tool for Automated Campaign Creation

Google launched Pomelli today, a free AI-powered tool developed by Google Labs and Google DeepMind that automates social media campaign creation for small and medium-sized businesses.
The platform analyzes company websites to extract brand elements including tone of voice, fonts, color palettes, and imagery. This automated analysis produces what Google calls a “Business DNA” profile without requiring manual brand documentation. Pomelli then generates customized campaign ideas and editable marketing assets optimized for social media, websites, and paid advertising channels.
The tool is available as a public beta in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, supporting English-language content only. Google has not announced pricing beyond the free beta period or expansion plans to additional markets.
Three-Step Workflow Eliminates Manual Setup
Pomelli’s workflow begins when users submit their website URL. The AI scans existing content to build the Business DNA profile automatically, capturing subtle brand personality traits alongside visual elements. This process takes minutes rather than the hours typically required to compile brand guidelines manually.
Once the profile is established, the system generates tailored campaign ideas matched to the business. Users can accept auto-generated concepts or input their own ideas through natural language prompts. The tool then produces platform-specific content, automatically adjusting formats and specifications for different social networks.
All generated assets remain editable, giving business owners control over final text and images before deployment. The platform addresses a documented pain point: 73% of small businesses report struggling with consistent brand messaging across digital channels, according to industry data cited in marketing research.
Competitive Positioning in Crowded Market
Pomelli enters a market dominated by established players like Canva and Adobe, which offer design tools with varying degrees of automation. Google’s approach differs by eliminating the design interface entirely—businesses receive finished assets rather than templates requiring customization.
The tool joins Google’s growing portfolio of AI business tools, competing directly with specialized AI marketing platforms that typically charge monthly subscription fees. While free during beta testing, analysts predict Google will likely introduce a freemium model with premium tiers for unlimited generations, similar to pricing structures in AI design tool markets.
The timing aligns with broader industry moves toward automation in creative workflows. Adobe recently unveiled Firefly Image Model 5 with advanced generation capabilities, while smaller platforms increasingly integrate AI agents for business automation.
Google has not disclosed which AI models power Pomelli, though industry observers suggest the platform likely uses Gemini for text generation alongside Imagen and Veo for visual content creation. The company requests user feedback during the beta phase but has not specified evaluation criteria or timeline for a full commercial launch.
Small business owners can access Pomelli through Google Labs without credit card requirements or usage caps during the beta period. The platform represents Google’s latest effort to extend AI capabilities beyond enterprise customers to resource-constrained businesses seeking affordable social media tools that maintain professional quality standards.
