SaneBox Review

An overflowing inbox creates two jobs: finding the messages that matter and making time to answer them. SaneBox tackles both while letting you keep the email app you already use. Its familiar filtering tools organize incoming mail, and the new AI Bundle adds reply drafts, scheduled summaries, and help with follow-ups.

This review covers SaneBox’s core organization tools, the AI Bundle, pricing, and privacy. The original setup walkthrough below shows the filtering experience; the new AI features are described separately and are not presented as part of that hands-on test.

What is SaneBox?

SaneBox homepage.

SaneBox is an email management software that uses Artificial Intelligence to organize your inbox to limit distractions and boost productivity.

Based on your preferences, it prioritizes important messages and moves unimportant ones to appropriate folders, helping you declutter your inbox. You can even send unwanted emails like spam to the SaneBlackHole folder and never see them again! If you are unsatisfied with where an email ended up, simply click and drag that email to the appropriate folder, and SaneBox will remember to put future emails from that sender in that folder.

Boasting extra features like email snoozing, do not disturb, and more, SaneBox has been awarded an impressive five-star rating from PCMag.

SaneBox Platforms

SaneBox is compatible with the most popular email platforms, including:

  • Gmail
  • Office365
  • iCloud
  • Any other platform that supports IMAP, so long as you have an email address

SaneBox works with your existing email setup, including Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail with a compatible account. You do not need to switch email apps or install a new one to use the service. A 14-day free trial lets you try it with your own inbox.

SaneBox Key Features

SaneBox offers features that make email management a breeze. Here’s a quick rundown of each of its main features so you get an idea of what it’s capable of:

  • Automatic AI Sorting: Using AI, your emails are automatically organized into folders for easy access and organization. You can correct the sorting by moving a message to the appropriate folder.
  • SaneBox Digest: A daily email sent to your inbox summarizing the new email in your SaneLater folder (emails that are not urgent and can be dealt with later). Feel free to delete, unsubscribe, and direct email to your inbox from the digest.
  • Do Not Disturb: Take regular breaks from email once, daily, weekly, or on weekends. While Do Not Disturb is active, new Inbox emails will be moved to @SaneDoNotDisturb. Reminders and Snooze folders will be paused, and other SaneFolders will be filtered as usual.
  • Reminders: Send reminders to yourself for whatever you need, like important emails that need follow-up or action. SaneBox will return them to your attention at the specified time, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Training: Train SaneBox to put contacts in the right folders by clicking and dragging the email into the correct folder.
  • Filters: Get SaneBox to place emails with certain subject lines or domains in specific folders.
  • Attachments: Connect popular cloud services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and Evernote.
  • Email Organize: Quickly organize multiple emails at once and place them in archive, mark as read, snooze, move once, train, or trash.
  • Deep Clean: Clear out old and unnecessary emails if you run out of storage space. SaneBox’s A.I. will scan and summarize by email count and total attachment size. This is particularly useful for those who want to free up their Google Drive space or avoid paying for Google One!

SaneBox AI Bundle

SaneBox’s AI Bundle, launched in October 2026, builds on its inbox filtering with help for the messages you still need to read and answer. The four features are optional and included in the Dinner plan.

SaneDrafts: A Head Start on Replies

SaneDrafts prepares suggested replies in your voice, giving you a starting point for routine questions, scheduling conversations, and status updates. You review the draft, make any changes, and send it yourself. SaneBox says the drafts become more closely matched to your style as you use the feature.

SaneSummary: Catch Up on a Folder

SaneSummary pulls together key takeaways, themes, and next steps from your inbox or a custom folder. You choose the folders, days, and delivery time. That makes it useful for catching up on a project or gathering the main points from newsletters without opening every message individually.

SaneNoReplies Plus: Find the Follow-Ups That Matter

SaneNoReplies Plus adds AI filtering to the existing follow-up folder, helping surface sent emails that actually need a response. It is particularly useful for freelancers, founders, and sales teams waiting on answers. Thread summaries are planned for this feature but are not yet available.

Digest Plus: Scan Lower-Priority Mail

Digest Plus adds a one-line summary of each lower-priority email to the Daily Digest. You can get a better sense of what a message contains before deciding whether to open it, move it, or clear it out.

Getting Started with SaneBox

The screenshots below show the original filtering setup. The AI Bundle adds optional controls in the SaneBox dashboard, including folder and delivery settings for SaneSummary.

Getting started with Sanebox is simple, and you don’t need to be tech-savvy to do it.

1. Go to sanebox.com

2. SaneBox is compatible with major email services like Outlook, Gmail, and iCloud, making it accessible to all users. Select the email platform you use to start your 14-day free trial.

3. Once connected, SaneBox will walk you through the process of cleaning up your email step-by-step.

Selecting the SaneBox folders to be added to an email account.

Start by selecting the SaneBox folders you want your emails to go to. You will have five main folders to choose from:

  • Inbox: Your Inbox should only contain email that requires immediate attention. This must be turned on for your most important emails to land.
  • @SaneBlackHole: Send emails that you never want to see again. This is perfect for newsletters or spam emails that always seem to find their way into your inbox.
  • @SaneReceipts: This folder is great for keeping track of all your purchase receipts and invoices. It can also hold emails related to family, work, and deliveries, or you can send it to the trash after 30 days.
  • @SaneNews: If you subscribe to multiple newsletters or updates, the @SaneNews folder is a great way to keep them organized. SaneBox automatically directs all your newsletter emails to this folder, so you can easily find and read them when you want.
  • @SaneLater: The @SaneLater folder is for emails that are not urgent and can be dealt with later. SaneBox intelligently filters these emails out of your main inbox, so you can focus on what’s important.

I will keep things simple and only have Inbox and @SaneNews turned on. This means SaneBox will keep newsletters out of my inbox.

4. Next, SaneBox will ask if you want to turn on the @SaneNoReplies folder that keeps copies of emails you have sent that need a reply.

5. Sanebox will also ask you if you’d like to turn on “snooze folders,” which will cause emails to automatically reappear in your inbox whether the next day, week, or month!

6. Finally, Sanebox will ask if you want to turn on SaneReminders if you ever want to deal with an email at a later time.

SaneBox informing the user they will send an email when setting up SaneBox folders is complete.

7. SaneBox will now begin its magic! Its advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence will analyze your emails and prioritize them accordingly. Important emails that require immediate attention will be directed to your Inbox, helping you focus on messages that need attention. You can use your email account as you normally would during this process, and SaneBox will email you once it is complete.

8. After a few minutes, you will find the folders you have selected in your email account. Here is the folder that I enabled with SaneBox using my Gmail account! From now on, my newsletters will be redirected from my inbox into this folder, keeping my inbox free of clutter.

Pros and Cons

  • Works inside familiar email apps with compatible accounts
  • Folder-based training makes sorting easy to adjust
  • Optional AI drafts and summaries complement inbox filtering
  • SaneSummary lets you choose folders and delivery times
  • You review and send suggested replies yourself
  • The AI Bundle requires the Dinner plan at $42.99 per month
  • Filtering takes some training and occasional review
  • AI assistance processes the email content needed for each enabled feature
  • SaneNoReplies Plus thread summaries are still coming soon

SaneBox Privacy Values

SaneBox’s standard filtering uses email headers, such as the sender, subject, and date. The optional AI features work differently: when you enable them, SaneBox processes the specific email bodies needed to draft a reply or create a summary.

SaneBox states that it does not use your email content to train AI models, does not retain full email bodies after processing, and does not share your data with advertisers. Each AI feature can be turned off in settings. You can also keep using the core filtering service without opting into the AI Bundle.

The important distinction is choice: header-based sorting and content-based AI assistance are separate capabilities. Saying that SaneBox never reads email content would overlook how the optional drafting and summarization features work.

SaneBox Pricing

The AI Bundle is available only on SaneBox’s Dinner plan, priced at $42.99 per month. It includes SaneDrafts, SaneSummary, SaneNoReplies Plus, and Digest Plus alongside SaneBox’s inbox-management features.

SaneBox offers a 14-day free trial. If you want the new drafting and summarization tools, budget for Dinner rather than assuming they are included in a lower-tier filtering subscription.

Final Thoughts: SaneBox Review

SaneBox remains an appealing choice if you want a calmer inbox without changing email apps. Moving a message to the right folder gives its filtering a useful correction, while snoozing, reminders, and the Daily Digest help you work through mail on your own schedule.

The AI Bundle broadens that appeal. SaneDrafts gives routine replies a head start, SaneSummary helps you catch up on selected folders, and the upgraded digest and follow-up tools make it easier to decide where to spend your attention. The main trade-off is the Dinner subscription: at $42.99 per month, it makes most sense when you plan to use those extra capabilities regularly.

Try SaneBox‘s 14-day trial with the kinds of messages you handle every day. You can choose which AI features to enable and keep control of the replies you send.
