Wabi Opens Its Personal AI Assistant on iOS, Android, and Mac

Wabi, the consumer AI startup founded by Replika creator Eugenia Kuyda, opened its personal AI assistant to public download on October 19, 2026, making the app available for iOS, Android, and Mac after an invite-only rollout that began on September 28, 2026.
The company announced the release in a launch thread on its official X account, presenting Wabi as an AI assistant designed to be used together with the people in a user’s life. The company described the assistant as highly proactive, saying it notices what would help a group, makes plans, keeps things moving, handles routine tasks, and builds small apps when they are useful. Kuyda promoted the launch in posts from her own account the same day.
The company’s download page offers direct App Store, Google Play, and Mac download links with no waitlist step, and the App Store listing from developer Wabi, Inc. shows the app is free and describes it as an assistant for getting things done with other people.
A Messenger That Builds Its Own Interface
Kuyda introduced the current product, which the company calls Wabi 2.0, in an announcement thread on September 28, 2026. She described a messenger in which users talk to Wabi, a personal agent that acts on their behalf and builds the interface needed in the moment, and said users can add anyone in their life to any thread. She argued that chat-only agents greet people with an empty text box and bury history in an endless scroll, writing that “the most powerful agent will be the one that combines both.”
Kuyda said her own health thread holds a calorie tracker, a weightlifting log, a weight tracker, and her health appointments. A kids thread, she wrote, contains an activity calendar, the daily preschool menu, a Japanese-learning app for her daughter, and event suggestions, with Wabi triaging school email while the children’s father and nanny participate in the thread. A thread with her boyfriend carries a show recommender, a map of favorite restaurants, and a daily relationship question.
The October 19 thread lists further uses the company says the assistant supports: a shared family calendar built from school emails; trip countdowns, itineraries, and booking; suggestions when weather changes a group’s plans; on-demand apps such as maps, shared calendars, and trackers; spotting bill increases, unused subscriptions, and owed credits; and help booking appointments, handling returns, and completing forms.
The official store descriptions say users choose which connections to grant, including email, calendar, contacts, location, photos, and health data; that Wabi checks with users before important actions requiring approval; and that connections can be disconnected at any time. The Google Play listing adds Android-specific features: optional background-location help that notices when a user arrives in a new city, read-only Health Connect integration for questions about metrics such as steps, sleep, and heart rate, and voice or video calls started from any chat. The Wabi homepage highlights group trip planning, home-screen widgets on iOS and Android, and use across computer and phone.
From Invite-Only Rollout to Open Access
The company first introduced Wabi 2.0 on September 28, 2026, describing a new kind of messenger that makes apps and gets things done for users and their friends, and said it would be invite-only to start, with downloads placing users on a first-come, first-served waitlist. The App Store version history labels the same September 28 update as version 3.0.0 and describes it as an AI messenger that gets things done, listing group chats with Wabi, friends, and family; help booking appointments, handling returns, and tracking refunds; proactive updates from chosen connections; and plans, trackers, and games created inside conversations.
The rollout widened in stages. App updates followed on October 1 and October 5, 2026, the company posted Android availability on October 6, 2026 and Mac availability on October 14, 2026, and the Google Play listing was updated on October 15, 2026.
Founder Background and Funding
Kuyda’s public bio identifies her as the builder of Wabi, which it calls the first personal software platform, and as the founder of Replika. Andreessen Horowitz announced on November 5, 2025 that it led Wabi’s $20M pre-seed round. The firm described Wabi as a platform that lets consumers prompt an app into existence, iterate directly on the interface instead of the code, and access, use, and modify apps built by others, citing early user-built apps for weight lifting, clip-art generation, and fasting. The a16z post states that Kuyda previously founded Replika and that Replika has 40M users today.
On October 7, 2026, Kuyda posted Luka’s 2015 launch video, writing that her earlier startup later pivoted into Replika and that “we were building personal agents 11 years ago!”
