Trintech on September 28, 2026 unveiled three new AI agents for the financial close at its Trintech Connect 2026 conference in Chicago: the Trintech Data Access Agent, Trintech Accruals Intelligence Agent and Trintech Exception Management Agent.

The three agents build on the Flux Agent and Variance Analysis Agent that Trintech introduced earlier in 2026, and the company said the additions bring what it calls governed AI execution to data preparation, accrual management and exception resolution. Trintech described the five-agent portfolio as a shift from AI that surfaces insights to AI that executes the work itself, operating within the same controls, approvals and audit trails finance teams already use.

“Finance teams do not need more AI that simply tells them what to do. They need AI that does the work — in ways they trust,” said Darren Heffernan, Trintech’s chief executive officer, in the announcement. Heffernan said the new agents extend AI deeper into the financial close, with the goal of helping teams eliminate manual work, identify issues earlier and focus their time on decisions that require human judgment.

The Three New Agents

Data Access Agent

According to the agent’s product page, the Data Access Agent authenticates into systems the way a person would, including through multi-factor authentication, to reach login-only portals and sources with no API or SFTP access. It connects to, retrieves, cleans, reshapes and delivers financial data, consolidating sources into a single governed pipeline that is agnostic to destination and can route data to Trintech’s Cadency, Adra and ReconNET products.

The product follows a five-step workflow of connect, retrieve, clean and reshape, deliver, and show, which surfaces data lineage and failures, and Trintech says customers can self-manage connections rather than waiting on support tickets. The announcement describes the agent as the connective tissue across the Trintech AI Platform, routing data to the right automation while giving finance and IT teams visibility into how that data moves and changes.

Accruals Intelligence Agent

Trintech says the Accruals Intelligence Agent reviews historical activity and prior-period patterns to recommend accrual amounts rather than repeating a fixed number from a template, identifying true-ups and reversals and automatically flagging estimates that fall outside historical trends. The agent’s product page states that it covers prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, accrued revenue and reserve accounts; generates current-period estimates; rolls forward continuing balances automatically; and applies consistent calculation methodology across legal entities, cost centers, currencies and reporting hierarchies. According to Trintech, the agent also tracks its own accuracy over time by preparer, account and methodology, and every recommendation arrives with its evidence, methodology, approvals and audit trail attached, supported by reviewer signoffs and audit-ready evidence retention.

Exception Management Agent

The Exception Management Agent identifies, classifies and prioritizes exceptions as they surface, and Trintech says it then investigates each one, names a likely root cause, attaches a confidence score to the finding and gathers supporting evidence, grouping related exceptions under a shared root cause. Its product page lists detection coverage across reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, close tasks, variance reviews, balance fluctuations and workflow approvals, with configurable materiality thresholds, risk classifications and severity scoring to surface the highest-priority issues. The page describes a six-step lifecycle of detect, classify, prioritize, route, resolve and document, supported by centralized dashboards, timestamped approvals and complete audit trails. Trintech says every finding, every agent action and every step held for a person stays logged and visible.

Governance Design and Earlier AI Work

On its agentic AI page, Trintech describes the design tenets behind the portfolio: agents execute workflows end to end rather than suggesting tasks, outputs are explainable and audit-ready, finance professionals remain in the loop with defined review and approval points, agents improve from real finance activity, and the software operates across the Trintech platform or alongside ERP systems and third-party tools. The same page describes the earlier Flux and Variance Analysis agents. The Variance Analysis Agent analyzes balances across periods, identifies material changes, explains likely drivers and produces reviewer-ready narratives with supporting evidence. The Flux Agent modernizes account fluctuation analysis, identifying material account movements across entities, currencies and reporting hierarchies and generating fluctuation explanations with supporting documentation.

The launch extends an AI expansion Trintech announced on April 9, 2026, which embedded finance-native AI capabilities directly into Record to Report workflows around Beacon, the company’s AI-powered assistant. That announcement listed capabilities including AI-assisted journal entry preparation with built-in risk scoring, AI-driven transaction matching and match-rule generation, anomaly and risk detection, close task prioritization, AI-generated reconciliation narratives and daily close briefings. Chief Marketing Officer Tamir Sigal said at the time that Trintech’s approach to agentic AI is grounded in trust, transparency and control, adding that the future of finance depends on teams trusting the agents working alongside them.

Connect 2026 Schedule and Availability

Trintech Connect 2026 is a four-city event series the company announced on September 23, 2026. Trintech said the series brings together hundreds of finance and accounting leaders, with speakers from more than 20 organizations including American Airlines, H&R Block and AT&T. For the new agents, Trintech said existing customers can contact their account manager, while prospective customers can schedule time with one of the company’s AI specialists. Following the Chicago event, which runs September 28–30, 2026 at the JW Marriott Chicago, the series continues in Oslo on October 14, 2026, London on October 15, 2026 and Stockholm on October 22, 2026.
