Agility Robotics Signs AGCO Deal to Pilot Digit Humanoid Robots

AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to bring Digit humanoid robots into AGCO’s manufacturing operations, the companies announced in a joint press release on October 20, 2026. The U.S. pilot is expected to begin in 2027 at AGCO’s production facility in Hesston, Kansas, and will support AGCO’s efforts to create more flexible, intelligent factories.
AGCO also carried the announcement on its own newsroom on October 20, 2026, describing the effort as an exploration of Digit robot use in manufacturing operations for repetitive, hazardous tasks. The joint release, datelined Duluth, Georgia, describes Agility Robotics as a humanoid robotics and physical AI company.
AGCO’s official manufacturing page identifies Hesston, Kansas, as the site that manufactures combines and hay and forage equipment for the company’s Fendt and Massey Ferguson brands. The page lists Hesston among AGCO’s North American manufacturing sites, which also include Beloit, Kansas, the home of Fendt Momentum Planter production, and Jackson, Minnesota, where the company focuses on the production of high-horsepower tractors and application equipment. AGCO states that over the past few years, each of its factories around the world has benefited from a significant investment in both its people and its systems.
Digit’s Initial Tasks and the Agility Arc Platform
Under the pilot, Digit will initially support key assembly and production operations, including parts sorting and stacking and the intelligent placement of totes for storage. According to the companies, automating repetitive and physically demanding tasks will help enhance ergonomic safety, improve operational efficiency and empower employees to focus on higher-value, skill-driven work that advances innovation and productivity.
Agility Robotics states that Digit is powered by advanced artificial intelligence and that the robot continuously learns and adapts to evolving workflows, enabling greater operational flexibility and improved productivity. Digit works alongside Agility Arc, the company’s cloud-based platform for deploying and managing robot fleets. When the robot and platform are paired, the company states, companies can rapidly integrate automation into essential operations without requiring extensive infrastructure changes or costly facility upgrades.
Executive Statements
Thomas Enghof, AGCO’s Director of Manufacturing Technology, framed the agreement around collaboration between people and machines. “This strategic relationship views humanoid robotics and AI as essential ‘teammates’ in building flexible, intelligent factories,” he said. Enghof said the robots unlock automation in complex, human-centric workflows, augmenting human capabilities by absorbing repetitive, strenuous or hazardous tasks, and that pairing human ingenuity with robust robotic engineering and strict safety governance creates resilient manufacturing systems that empower the workforce and deliver measurable business value.
Daniel Diez, Chief Business Officer of Agility Robotics, said his company is excited to work alongside AGCO, which he described as continuing to lead the way in agricultural innovation. Introducing Digit into AGCO’s operations, Diez said, is an opportunity to strengthen manufacturing processes, support employees in demanding tasks and demonstrate how advanced robotics can create measurable impact across modern production environments.
Deployment Roster and Pending Public Listing
AGCO joins what the companies describe as a growing number of global companies deploying Agility’s humanoid robots, a group that includes Toyota, GXO and Schaeffler.
Churchill XI and Agility jointly filed a registration statement on Form S-4 with the Securities and Exchange Commission that was declared effective on October 13, 2026, and that includes a definitive proxy statement and prospectus. The proposed transaction will be submitted to Churchill XI shareholders for their consideration, and the release states that the proxy documents have been distributed to shareholders in connection with Churchill XI’s solicitation of proxies for the vote, with September 14, 2026, established as the record date for voting.
Agility Robotics is preparing to become a public company through that previously announced business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI, which the companies expect to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. After closing, the combined company will operate as Agility Robotics and is expected to trade on Nasdaq.
