EXL Buys Aimpoint Digital to Add Forward-Deployed AI Expertise

EXL announced on November 5, 2026 that it had acquired Aimpoint Digital, adding approximately 250 AI engineers, platform architects, analytics consultants, decision scientists and AI strategists. The deal expands EXL’s forward-deployed talent as it builds a business spanning AI strategy, platform engineering, deployment and managed operations.
The acquisition targets a persistent execution problem: enterprises are investing heavily in AI, yet many struggle to move initiatives from pilot projects to production-scale value. Aimpoint Digital brings consulting and platform-engineering expertise built around enterprise data and AI platforms. EXL plans to extend that work across more workflows and business functions.
A Larger Forward-Deployed Team
The incoming specialists cover technical delivery and decision support, spanning platform architecture, analytics and AI strategy. EXL expects the expanded forward-deployed team to place senior expertise closer to client teams and add capacity for complex, multi-year transformations.
That team will sit within a connected engagement model covering the first strategy conversation, architecture, engineering, production deployment and managed operations. The companies designed the model to reduce handoffs, establish clearer accountability and accelerate the path to measurable outcomes. In practical terms, the same provider can remain involved as an AI plan becomes a production system and moves into ongoing management.
Rohit Kapoor, EXL’s chairman and chief executive officer, said the combination pairs Aimpoint Digital’s forward-deployed strategists and engineers with EXL’s data foundations, industry expertise, agentic AI solutions and operational scale. Aimpoint Digital CEO and cofounder Ben Yopp described the same division of strengths from the acquired firm’s perspective: AI strategy and engineering talent joining EXL’s global reach and ability to run AI in operations.
Platform Expertise and the iMerit Acquisition
Aimpoint Digital also brings experience with Anthropic, Databricks and Snowflake, expanding EXL’s partner-ecosystem footprint. EXL expects that expertise to help clients rework core workflows while continuing to use platforms they trust, with the goal of reaching production sooner.
The Aimpoint Digital transaction follows EXL’s completion of the iMerit acquisition on August 3, 2026. iMerit specializes in AI model training, evaluation and reinforcement learning. That earlier deal added iMerit’s technology, expert-led solutions, generative AI experience and foundation-model relationships to EXL’s enterprise data and AI capabilities.
The acquisitions cover distinct stages of enterprise AI delivery. iMerit brings model training and evaluation; Aimpoint Digital adds strategy, architecture and platform engineering. EXL connects those capabilities with deployment and managed AI operations, extending its involvement from model development through the ongoing operation of enterprise AI systems.
For enterprise clients, the significance is the scope of responsibility EXL is assembling: strategy, implementation and operations within one accountable engagement. The central test for the connected model is whether it turns that broader expertise into the continuity, clearer accountability and reduced handoffs the companies designed it to provide.
