Disruptive Announces $10B Flagship Fund to Back Private Tech Companies

Disruptive announced the Disruptive Flagship Fund on October 27, 2026, a $10 billion vehicle through which the Dallas-based investment firm said it plans to back approximately 10 exceptional growth- and late-stage private technology companies, investing up to $1 billion per company.
The firm described the fund as one of a small number of private technology-focused investment funds of its size. Disruptive said its long-standing relationships with limited partners and its distinct capital base enabled it to secure capital commitments and respond to growing demand from those investors for consistent access to the firm’s investments.
In the announcement, founder and CEO Alex Davis said: “The best private technology companies are growing larger, staying private longer and requiring more capital than ever before. We have always focused on a small number of exceptional companies, building the conviction and relationships to be there for founders at their most important moments. The Disruptive Flagship Fund gives us the scale to match the opportunity.”
The announcement also ties the fund’s timing to advances in artificial intelligence, the buildout of compute infrastructure and a new era of investment in defense and national security, forces the firm said are creating companies of a scale and strategic importance it described as unprecedented while significantly increasing the amount of capital required to capture those opportunities.
Disruptive said its investment approach remains unchanged. The firm said that since its founding in 2012 it has developed a model designed to identify a small number of exceptional companies and deploy significant capital behind them, while working closely with founders through critical stages of growth and bringing capital, networks, hands-on support and strategy.
The Firm’s Earlier Stated Investment Model
In a May 7, 2026 release, Disruptive stated that it differed from traditional venture capital and private equity models in that it did not raise blind-pool funds or charge management fees, instead assembling investor groups around individual transactions and maintaining what it described as a highly selective investor base. That release described the firm as investing in private technology companies operating at or near public scale and pairing significant capital with hands-on execution across its portfolio.
In its July 6, 2026 release, the firm described its approach as deploying large, concentrated capital into a select group of late- and growth-stage technology companies through primary, secondary and structured transactions, partnering with founders during critical periods of growth, liquidity and market evolution. Both mid-year releases stated that the firm had scaled rapidly in recent years, growing to approximately $10 billion in assets under advisement, while the body text of the same releases said the firm was expected to soon reach that figure. The figure was footnoted as based on internal estimates and projections, representing the aggregate value of assets for which the firm provides advisory, consulting or oversight services. The footnotes identify Disruptive Technology Advisers LLC as an investment adviser registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Portfolio and 2026 Leadership Appointments
The fund announcement lists the firm’s portfolio, past and present, as including Airbnb, Databricks, ElevenLabs, Helsing, Groq, Palantir, Reflection AI, Spotify and Shield AI, with a footnote stating that the list is not representative of all of the firm’s investments. The May release additionally named Stripe among the portfolio companies. According to the announcement, Disruptive invests across artificial intelligence, AI infrastructure, defense technology, enterprise software and other sectors.
The fund announcement follows two senior appointments the firm documented earlier in 2026. On July 6, 2026, Disruptive announced Joy Royal as Chief Financial Officer, joining from Oaktree Capital Management, where the firm said she spent close to two decades in senior finance leadership roles. According to the biography in that release, Royal led global teams supporting more than $36 billion in assets under management at Oaktree and held senior roles overseeing fund accounting, financial reporting and strategic initiatives across private equity, private debt, real estate and other alternative investment strategies. She began her career as an auditor at Deloitte, holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pepperdine University and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Alongside the appointment, the firm said Partner Phillip Caputo would transition to the role of Managing Director, Finance, working closely with Royal across its finance function.
On May 7, 2026, the firm appointed Ash Spiegelberg as Chief Strategy Officer. Spiegelberg joined from Brunswick Group, where he was global co-head of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice, advising technology companies and investors on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and other corporate events. The release’s biography states that he joined Brunswick in 2004, advised more than 400 companies and led the firm’s San Francisco office from 2018 to 2022. In the appointment release, Davis said Spiegelberg would help Disruptive build on its aim of being the investor founders turn to in their most important moments.
Under the terms stated in the announcement, interests in the Disruptive Flagship Fund are being offered only to accredited investors, and the fund will take reasonable steps to verify accredited-investor status. The announcement states that it is for informational purposes only and does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any securities, and that any such offer will be made only by means of the fund’s confidential offering documents.
