Apple made Siri AI available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish on October 26, 2026, expanding the assistant beyond English with the release of the iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2 software updates.

Expanded Language Support

Apple announced the expansion in an Apple Newsroom post, describing Siri AI as an entirely new version of Siri that is, in the company’s words, “profoundly more capable, conversational, and personal.”

Siri AI is available in beta across the 27.2 releases and requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language. With the update, Siri AI is available in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, and Apple notes that some features may not be available in all regions or languages.

According to Apple, Siri AI draws on personal context understanding to help users find what they need across their messages, emails, and photos, and it can perform systemwide app actions such as drafting an email from scratch or editing and sharing a set of photos. With onscreen awareness, the assistant can answer questions or take actions related to content on a user’s screen, and the company said it can apply broad world knowledge to retrieve up-to-date information on virtually any topic.

Apple said language support will continue to expand, with availability in Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese coming by the end of the year.

Capabilities and Architecture

Apple introduced Siri AI on September 14, 2026, when the assistant began rolling out in beta in English alongside the company’s 2027 software releases; Apple said at the time that support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish was coming the next month.

Users can invoke Siri AI by saying “Hey Siri,” by pressing the iPhone side button, or by swiping down from the Dynamic Island, according to Apple. On iPad and Mac, the assistant is integrated into Spotlight and systemwide context menus, and on Apple Vision Pro it presents a 3D visualization that users can invoke by looking at it and starting to speak. A dedicated Siri app uses iCloud to privately sync conversation history across iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro, the company said.

Apple said Siri AI offers more expressive voices and improved systemwide dictation on devices that support AFM Core Advanced, its most advanced on-device model, and users can customize the expressiveness and pace of the assistant’s voice. The company’s Visual Intelligence feature brings image understanding to iPhone through a Siri mode in the Camera app, to iPad within the screenshot experience, to Mac through a dedicated keyboard shortcut, and to Apple Vision Pro, where users can ask about content inside app windows or physical objects around them.

The new capabilities are powered by the next generation of Apple Foundation Models, which Apple said were custom-built in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models. The models run on device and on servers using Private Cloud Compute, and Apple said that when Private Cloud Compute handles requests, personal data is not stored or made accessible to the company.

Siri AI already works with third-party apps including WhatsApp and Audible, and Apple said users will soon be able to ask the assistant to draft an email in Microsoft Outlook, search for a homework assignment in Notability, or add a restaurant recommendation to Tripsy.

Availability Terms and Regional Limits

Siri AI is currently unavailable in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, and Apple said it is working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward. The assistant is not available for users under 13.

Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground, and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts, are subject to daily usage limits that may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors. Apple said expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future, with use subject to the Apple Intelligence terms and conditions.

Apple Intelligence more broadly is available with Siri and device language set to Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, or Vietnamese, with some features unavailable in certain regions or languages. It runs on iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad mini (A17 Pro), iPad models with M1 or later, MacBook Neo (A18 Pro), Mac models with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3 when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone nearby.

Apple said in September that Siri AI and the other new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China while the company works through regulatory requirements.
