Rockwell Automation Unveils AI-Native FactoryTalk Conductor Platform

Rockwell Automation on October 21, 2026 announced the introduction of FactoryTalk Conductor, an AI-native orchestration platform designed to coordinate AI-powered work across the industrial automation lifecycle. The software will make its public debut at Automation Fair 2026 in Boston, where attendees will receive a first look ahead of commercial availability planned for the first quarter of 2027.
How the Platform Works
FactoryTalk Conductor lets users initiate engineering tasks using natural language and connects the software, AI capabilities and workflows needed to complete them, the company said. Rockwell described the platform as creating a foundation for AI-enabled workflows from system design through operation and maintenance. At launch, it will integrate with Studio 5000 Logix Designer, Logix Echo, Emulate3D and FactoryTalk Optix, providing coverage across design, development, simulation and testing workflows. Integrations with FactoryTalk Design Studio, FactoryTalk Historian, Plex and Fiix are planned to follow.
According to the announcement’s FAQ, a traditional AI copilot assists with individual tasks, while FactoryTalk Conductor enables multiple AI agents, workflows and software tools to work together across engineering processes. That structure, the company said, allows broader automation of complex, multi-step activities that span applications, data sources and teams. Customers can also create and deploy their own agents and skills alongside Rockwell Automation-verified ones to support company standards, industry requirements and unique engineering workflows.
On its FactoryTalk Conductor product page, Rockwell presents the software as a way for teams to move from concept to commissioning faster by orchestrating AI-powered workflows across its product ecosystem. By connecting AI with products, data and domain expertise across design, development and testing, the page states, the platform can help deliver high-quality systems faster, reduce repetitive manual work and minimize dependence on specialized expertise. The page lists customer availability for the first quarter of calendar year 2027.
Stated Benefits and Model Flexibility
The release lists key benefits that include accelerating engineering workflows across the automation lifecycle by coordinating activities across design, development, testing and verification environments; reducing complexity across software applications through AI-powered workflows; applying AI with greater confidence and reliability through Rockwell-developed integrations that connect software, data and services across industrial operations; and extending trusted automation expertise through Rockwell-verified agents and skills built for industrial applications.
On governance and model choice, the company said the platform supports enterprise AI and governance requirements and gives organizations the option to use FactoryTalk Hub-hosted AI services or connect their preferred large or small language models. Those options include locally hosted open-weight models, which Rockwell said can help reduce ongoing token consumption costs.
Executive and Analyst Statements
“What makes FactoryTalk Conductor unique is the combination of AI orchestration and trusted industrial expertise,” said Matheus Bulho, senior vice president of software and control at Rockwell Automation. Customers can use Rockwell Automation-verified agents and skills, create capabilities tailored to their business and connect AI across software, data and services, he said, describing the result as a scalable foundation for accelerating engineering work while maintaining the standards required in industrial environments.
The announcement also points to the company’s 2026 State of Smart Manufacturing Report, according to which one-third of manufacturing operations are already AI-augmented, with adoption expected to accelerate in the years ahead. As manufacturers move from AI experimentation to broader deployment, the release states, they need practical ways to connect technology, workflows and expertise, and FactoryTalk Conductor is designed to meet that need through a single platform that brings AI together across engineering environments.
Craig Resnick, vice president at ARC Advisory Group, said in the release that “the next phase of industrial AI will be defined by orchestration rather than individual copilots.” Manufacturers need AI technologies that can coordinate tasks across software systems, engineering tools and operational data, he said, adding that FactoryTalk Conductor reflects the industry’s evolution toward agentic automation by bringing AI agents, workflows and industrial expertise together in a unified environment.
Automation Fair 2026 Debut
Attendees at Automation Fair 2026 will be able to see FactoryTalk Conductor demonstrations across multiple show floor experiences, including the Technology & Services Showcase, the Industry Pavilion and Innovations, along with dedicated technical sessions, the company said.
Rockwell’s Automation Fair event page lists more than 150 interactive exhibits, more than 500 hours of advanced training and more than 250 educational sessions, and states that registration is open. The event runs November 16–19, 2026 in Boston.
