Nyobolt Batteries to Power Agility Robotics’ Digit 5 Humanoid Robot

Agility Robotics announced on October 15, 2026 that Nyobolt, a developer of high-power, ultra-fast charging solutions based in Cambridge, UK, is the battery technology provider for its Digit 5 humanoid robot, a partnership the company said will let Digit work more than 20 hours in a 24-hour day.
In its announcement, datelined Salem, Oregon and Cambridge, UK, Agility described the Nyobolt system as one of Digit 5’s most significant upgrades. Nyobolt published the same announcement on its own newsroom the same day.
Fast-Charging Battery System
According to Agility, Digit 5’s new battery system delivers 90 minutes of runtime and charges in 9 minutes, a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, up from the 2:1 ratio of the previous-generation Digit 4. The company said the rapid charging is designed to keep Digit working through more than two shifts in a single day.
The companies described Nyobolt’s battery technology as built for demanding industrial conditions, combining fast charging, long cycle life and reduced system weight. They said the system addresses downtime, which they identified as a key constraint on robot utilization, and that removing that power bottleneck gives Digit 5 customers the potential to target longer operating windows, more productive shifts and more demanding task sequences across warehouse, distribution and manufacturing operations.
“For our customers, Digit’s uptime is the business case,” said Daniel Diez, Chief Business Officer of Agility Robotics. “Digit 5 will deliver more than 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour day, more than two full shifts.” Diez said the gain materially improves the value customers get from each robot and the economics of deploying a humanoid robot fleet, and that Nyobolt’s charging technology is one of the pieces that makes Digit 5 ready for full-scale operation.
Sai Shivareddy, co-founder and CEO of Nyobolt, said the technology was chosen because Digit 5 will need more power from a smaller, lighter pack in environments where reliability is not optional. He said Agility set an exceptionally high bar for what a battery must withstand in live warehouse and manufacturing environments.
Digit 5 Background and Availability
Early access to Digit 5 equipped with Nyobolt’s battery technology is expected to begin in the first half of 2027, with availability increasing over the following six to nine months for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators.
Agility unveiled Digit 5 on September 15, 2026 as its first humanoid robot engineered for cooperatively safe work at scale, able to operate in close proximity to people without the physical safety barriers required by traditional automation. According to the unveiling release, Digit 5 repeatedly lifts loads of up to 50 lb, weighs 284 lb, stands 5 ft 11 in tall and reaches up to 7.2 ft. Agility has said Digit 5 is designed to cover a facility’s full workflow, from depalletizing goods as they arrive through machine tending, kitting, sequencing and quality inspection to final palletizing for shipment.
Agility reported that as of May 2026 it held more than $300 million in multi-year customer orders for Digit 5, subject to satisfaction of certain contractual milestones. The company also reported that Digit 4 has logged more than 65,000 hours of operational time across customer sites in North America, including GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. Digit is assembled at RoboFab, Agility’s 70,000-square-foot facility in Salem, Oregon, which the company said is designed to produce up to 10,000 Digit robots per year at full capacity. General availability of Digit 5 is expected by the end of 2027.
Nyobolt Background and Agility’s Pending Business Combination
Nyobolt was founded in 2019 and is based in Cambridge, UK. On May 6, 2026, the company announced it had raised $60 million in Series C funding at a $1 billion valuation, in a round led by warehouse automation company Symbotic with participation from IQ Capital, Latitude (Phoenix Court), Scania Invest and CBMM. Nyobolt said at the time that its revenue had grown fivefold year-on-year. It also said its performance battery powers Symbotic’s SymBot autonomous mobile robots, delivering six times the energy capacity of the ultracapacitors previously used while weighing 40% less, and that it was working with an unnamed leading humanoids developer to increase work-to-charge ratios for humanoid robots. In the same May announcement, Nyobolt said it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian state of Rajasthan to bring more than 100MW of off-grid AI data centers and power management infrastructure to the state.
Agility is preparing to become a public company through its previously announced business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI, a blank check company. The registration statement for the proposed transaction was declared effective by the SEC on October 13, 2026, with September 14, 2026 as the record date for the shareholder vote. The business combination is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the combined company will operate as Agility Robotics and is expected to trade on Nasdaq.
