XPENG Launches G9L SUV in Europe, Opens NGP Public Test Rides

XPeng Inc. launched the G9L Next-Gen AI Flagship SUV for Europe at the 2026 Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026, with French pricing starting from €74,990, public test rides of its Next Generation Pilot (NGP) driving software and a new technology-collaboration offering for global automotive partners.
The announcements spanned the company’s XPENG Paris Night brand event and its show presence. XPENG framed the program around three priorities: bringing the G9L to European users, introducing NGP to European roads and opening more of its AI and vehicle-engineering capabilities to partners, under an approach it calls “In Europe, For Europe, With Europe.”
XPENG announced on October 1, 2026 that the G9L would make its global launch at the Paris Motor Show and that European order books would open at the event. The company’s press conference was scheduled for October 12, 2026, at Hall 6, Booth A51, and its XPENG Paris Night brand event took place on October 11, 2026. The 2026 Paris Motor Show runs from October 12 to October 18, 2026, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
G9L Safety, Range and Charging
The G9L comes in six-seat and seven-seat layouts with AI-Adaptive Front Seats, and XPENG describes the model as designed around different lifestyles and journeys, from business and family travel to outdoor adventures, while combining intelligent driving, advanced safety, flagship comfort and long-distance capability. The company said the safety approach combines active prevention, passive protection and system redundancy, with nine airbags as standard, automatic emergency braking at speeds of up to 150 km/h and stability support following a tire blowout. According to XPENG, the model underwent three years of testing across 26 countries and regions, covering more than 6.74 million kilometers.
EV variants offer up to 591 km of WLTP range, and the 800V architecture with 5C charging technology enables a 10% to 80% charge in as little as 11.7 minutes, the company said. Following a production trial at Magna in Graz, the G9L is set to become the fourth XPENG model manufactured in Europe.
NGP Powered by VLA 2.0
XPENG said NGP is powered by VLA 2.0 and supported by its proprietary Turing AI chips, with 4D spatiotemporal understanding and generalization across different roads and unfamiliar scenarios. According to the company, VLA 2.0 can retain up to 30 seconds of contextual information and predict how a scenario may unfold up to six seconds ahead. XPENG said the technology has been tested against complex European driving conditions.
In Paris, the company is holding what it describes as NGP’s first large-scale test-ride appearance in Europe, with demonstrations across roundabouts, narrow streets, motorcycle traffic, pedestrian crossings and complex right-of-way situations. The system is also being showcased in the motor show’s official Autonomous Lab, which is open to public experience; XPENG said it is one of only two participating automakers, alongside Tesla.
XPENG also said it aims to become the first certified automaker in the world to meet UNECE UN Regulation No. 171, Series 02, a step the company said would support the global expansion of its advanced driving software.
Physical AI Museum and Technology Collaboration
At the show, XPENG converted its 1,008-square-meter stand in Hall 6, Stand A51, into a “Physical AI Museum” presenting its broader Physical AI vision. The Press Day display featured 11 vehicles, including the G9L, L03, P7+, G6, G9 and X9, along with one Land Aircraft Carrier and two IRON humanoid robots. Separate technology areas present VLA 2.0 and the Turing AI Chip. XPENG said it plans a global rollout of IRON, its general-purpose humanoid robot, in 2027.
The company said the Paris program marks the first time it has introduced its AI and vehicle-engineering technology solutions overseas, opening what it described as new opportunities for technical collaboration with global automotive and technology partners.
European Operations
XPENG said it now operates across 82 countries and regions, supported by eight R&D centers, six manufacturing bases and 1,283 stores. Its European R&D center supports homologation, language interaction, chassis tuning, charging integration and intelligent-driving validation, while local production with Magna in Austria began in the third quarter of 2025.
