Anthropic Launches Claude Dashboards and Motion, Takes Docs Out of Beta

Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion on October 8, 2026, and took Claude Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta on every Claude plan, including Free. The company’s announcement also set a December 14, 2026 closure date for the standalone Claude Design site.
Claude Dashboards Connects to Company Data Platforms
Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. It links Claude to a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, or Snowflake, and it works with a user’s other connectors, including Salesforce. A user asks a question in plain language; Claude pulls answers from the data, builds the dashboard, and keeps it current as the data changes. Anthropic positions the tool for quick, exploratory questions, giving the examples of comparing one week’s signups with the previous month’s and requesting a dashboard of Salesforce opportunities.
Each chart shows the query behind it and when its data was last refreshed, and clicking any number surfaces that query or lets the user ask Claude to explain it. When a question needs deeper analysis, a dashboard can be sent from Claude to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma, with the analysis continuing there. Anthropic lists Looker, monday.com, and Tableau as coming soon.
Claude Motion Builds Animations as Editable Code
Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans. It turns a prompt into an animation that plays like a short video; Anthropic’s examples include turning a quarterly report into a 30-second explainer for an all-hands meeting, adding motion to a chart in a board deck, and making a product walkthrough for customer onboarding. The result can be adjusted in an editor or by asking Claude, then downloaded as an MP4 file. Typing “/motion” in the Claude message box brings up the Motion option.
Anthropic said Motion writes code that animates the user’s own text, charts, shapes, and images, so any word, number, or timing can be changed after the first version. The company said the tool does not use a video generation model, so animations contain no generated footage and no AI-generated people. Finished animations can be opened in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI, or Runway, with Canva and Captions listed as coming soon.
Docs, Slides, and Design Leave Beta
Anthropic introduced Claude Docs and Claude Slides and moved Claude Design into conversations on September 16, 2026, when it merged Claude Cowork and chat into one Claude. All three launched in beta on paid plans, rolling out first on Pro and Max, with Team and Free plans to follow and Enterprise administrators told they would hear from the company at least 30 days before anything changed for their organizations. Anthropic said users have since made more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs in Claude.
With general availability, artifacts support customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), and administrators choose which artifact templates their organization uses. Teams can edit the same doc, deck, design, or dashboard alongside Claude, and users can share slides, designs, dashboards, and animations with people outside their organization or with anyone who has the link, if their admin allows it. PowerPoint and PDF downloads preserve the formatting created in the editor, decks export to Google Slides as editable files, and docs, decks, and designs can be edited in the Claude mobile app.
For Enterprise admins, Dashboards and Motion are off by default and can be enabled in Organization settings under Artifacts. Docs, Slides, and Design turn on by default on October 15, 2026, and admins can enable them earlier than that date.
Standalone Claude Design Closes December 14
Claude Design started at its own URL, claude.ai/design, and has worked inside every Claude conversation since September 16, where it can use a user’s context, files, and connectors. Anthropic said running two versions slows down fixes for both, so it is folding the standalone site into Claude. The site remains available until December 14, 2026, after which the URL redirects to Claude.
Organizations can migrate design systems from the Artifacts page in Claude by clicking “Migrate team design systems.” One migration brings over every design system in the organization, and the originals stay unchanged in the standalone version until it closes. According to Anthropic’s migration guide, each migrated design system keeps its owner and the people it is shared with, while empty design systems and ones built from a built-in starter theme are not migrated.
Projects keep working in the standalone version until it closes, and the Artifacts page lists up to 60 of them. Chats with Claude and comments on projects stay in the standalone version and will be deleted after it closes in December 2026 under Anthropic’s data retention practices, and public links to standalone projects will stop working. Users who want to keep a project can download it as a free.zip archive export, one project at a time. Organizations with zero data retention cannot enable artifacts, so they cannot migrate; Anthropic directs those organizations to download their projects before the standalone site closes.
