FOX Nation Announces All-AI Houdini Docuseries for October 2026 Debut

FOX Nation will premiere Houdini: Back from the Dead, a three-part series, on October 14, 2026, the platform announced on October 8, 2026. The company describes the project as the streaming service’s first full-length, multi-episode production to rely entirely on AI-generated imagery.
Platform president Lauren Petterson announced the series in a company release that arrived with a trailer. “FOX Nation is breaking new creative ground by using emerging technology to bring one of history’s most fascinating figures to life for a modern audience,” Petterson said. She called it a new form of historical storytelling that lets viewers experience Houdini’s life in his own words while staying grounded in extensive research and historical accuracy.
A Return From the Dead
The series premieres ahead of Halloween and the 100th anniversary of Houdini’s death on October 31, 1926. It imagines the magician returning from the dead to narrate his own story, stepping onto the set of a modern documentary interview to answer questions about his life, career, relationships, and greatest acts. His wife Bess, his mother, his brother, friends, reporters, and business associates are also brought to life, speaking through words pulled from diaries, books, correspondence, and historical writings.
Actors, Archival Imagery, and AI Artists
To build the series’ visuals, the production licensed archival footage and more than 400 historic photographs, which served as source imagery for a team of AI artists. Actors portrayed the principal characters to capture authentic movement, cadence, and performance, while AI technology transformed their appearances to resemble their historical counterparts. The scripts were written entirely by humans, and the release states that all historical claims in the series are supported by archival research and expert review.
Across three episodes, the series covers a childhood accident in which Houdini was shot in the hand; his relationship with his mother; a staged rivalry with his brother; a brief ambition to abandon the stage after becoming a pioneering aviator; his fascination with death and a near-fatal attempt to escape from a grave; his marriage to Bess; his relationship with author Charmian London; and his campaign against fraudulent spiritualist mediums, which led to threats against his life.
Red Rock Films and Its AI Division
Houdini: Back from the Dead is produced for FOX Nation by Red Rock Films, which the release describes as specializing in responsible AI production and working with partners on emerging creative technologies, workflow development, and rights and clearances.
Red Rock Films lists four Emmy wins and nine nominations on its website, including the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series for Secrets of the Whales, and counts Fox Nation among clients that also include Netflix, National Geographic, and Disney+. The company says it has spent sixteen years making hundreds of hours of programming for broadcasters and streamers around the world, and its site lists Houdini as a three-part documentary series on its coming slate.
The company’s Red Rock AI division states that its workflows are built in production, not just in tests, and that it is currently making two AI series, each with three 60-minute episodes. Its listed capabilities include historical and true-crime recreations, archival restoration, still-photo animation, and voice recreation where appropriate and fully cleared.
On rights and vetting, the division states that it reviews every platform before it touches client material, assessing ownership, commercial rights, data retention, confidentiality, and model-training policies. It says it works directly with each client’s Business Affairs and legal teams and does not use platforms that train on client content. The division’s page names Ally Christos as Head of Red Rock AI Division.
