Infor Expands Industry AI Platform as Survey Flags Generic AI Gaps

Infor unveiled an expanded Infor Industry AI architecture and the next evolution of Infor Velocity Suite on October 6, 2026, alongside new global research in which 68% of surveyed business decision-makers said off-the-shelf AI does not adequately address their industry’s specific needs.
The announcement, datelined Orlando, Florida, coincided with Infor Velocity Week 2026, hosted in that city from October 6 to 8, according to Infor’s Velocity Suite product page. The suite’s next evolution adds personalized adaptive user experiences, new governance models extending across customers’ enterprises, and additional Industry AI agents.
The Four Pillars of Infor Industry AI
Infor said the architecture rests on four platform pillars. Under Precise Outcomes, Industry AI agents draw on Industry CloudSuites, Industry Process Catalogs, and industry-specific domain language models rather than reasoning from a generic, horizontal model. Infor said customers using this layer are seeing shipments processed up to 60% faster. The Infor GenAI Knowledge Hub, which lets customers build custom agents from the company’s application and industry knowledge, is now generally available.
Under Open & Connected, the modular platform connects to non-Infor applications and a customer’s existing orchestration and analytics tools, so buyers are not required to standardize on one vendor’s stack. Agents coordinate through Infor IQ, a semantic layer that gives every agent a consistent understanding of the customer’s business, with a catalog of more than 350 prebuilt use cases available out of the box.
Under Easy to Use, an Adaptive UX assembles what a decision requires, such as the bill of materials, quoted price, and delivery date, into a single role-aware view instead of ten screens across multiple applications. Users can work through the Infor GenAI Assistant or third-party AI assistants they have already adopted. Infor said customers are seeing up to 90% time savings across procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and sales workflows.
Under Governed, human-approval workflows, agentic permission structures, and audit trails run throughout the orchestration layer, with every agent action passing through governance, risk, and compliance controls built into the Infor Industry Cloud Platform, including explainable AI logic and immutable logging of each action. Infor said customers are seeing up to a 90% reduction in auditing costs tied to access management.
At the technical level, Infor said its agents call business-level process APIs, such as creating a purchase order in one instruction, rather than chains of granular technical API calls, a design it said is intended to reduce hallucination, improve reasoning accuracy, and lower the token cost of completing a task. The company illustrates industry-specific context with examples such as a sugar shipment’s Brix factor in a food manufacturer’s raw-material order and a VIN number in an automotive parts order.
What the Enterprise AI Adoption Impact Index Found
The research is the second edition of Infor’s Enterprise AI Adoption Impact Index. Conducted by YouGov on behalf of Infor between August 5 and 19, 2026, the new wave polled 2,111 business decision-makers across seven markets: the United States (550 respondents), the United Kingdom (254), Germany (258), France (260), Australia (263), Singapore (260), and Japan (266). It builds on an April 2026 wave of 1,024 decision-makers in four markets. The report page describes post-adoption gaps around industry context, governance, ownership, human review, and cost visibility, and frames the end state as an agentic enterprise in which AI agents and people work as one coordinated system under human oversight.
In the headline finding, 68% of businesses said off-the-shelf AI does not adequately address challenges specific to their business or industry, the majority view in six of the seven markets. By industry, Infor reported that 73% of manufacturing respondents, 76% of distribution respondents, and 69% of retail respondents said generic AI does not fit their needs.
Infor reported that 59% of businesses globally expect AI investment to increase over the next 12 months, and 54% of leaders are comfortable with autonomous agents fully executing critical business processes without human input at every step, while 11% prefer that humans make high-stakes decisions without any AI input. Comparing the markets surveyed in both waves, the company described the US as accelerating deployment with more efficiency gains, Germany as holding steady, and the UK as mixed, with efficiency gains falling back while deployment edged forward.
On accountability, the survey found responsibility scattered rather than centralized: 23% point to the CEO or executive leadership, 22% to the CIO or CTO, 15% to an AI committee or governance group, 10% to a dedicated Chief AI Officer, and 10% to individual department heads, while 15% said no one person has primary responsibility or it is unclear who does. Infor reported that 33% of leaders cite data security, sovereignty, or compliance as the single greatest barrier to advancing their AI strategy.
An Infor blog post detailing the research adds that 79% of respondents believe they can manage an AI implementation without disrupting daily core operations, and that 70% of C-suite respondents report a positive AI impact on frontline workers compared with 59% of department heads. Businesses estimate that 44% of AI-generated insights and workflows still require expert human review or adjustment. In the US, the share of respondents very comfortable with autonomous agents handling many processes rose from 10% in April to 15%, and in Japan 21% said no one has primary responsibility for AI, versus 4% in Singapore.
Velocity Suite Packaging and Next Steps
Infor said Velocity Suite is the single package through which customers access the announced capabilities, combining Industry AI Agents, the Agentic Orchestrator, process mining, automation, prebuilt industry use cases, generative AI, and implementation expertise, tied to a customer’s Industry Process Catalog and offered with unlimited access within fair business use. The product page describes it as an all-inclusive, flat-fee package that pairs with every Infor CloudSuite, also including Value+ automations and robotic process automation, and cites customer results such as Team Air Distributing, which it said now resolves credit 90% faster after growing from 5 to 18 branches in under three years.
“Everyone has the same AI models now. What matters is what those models know about your business,” CEO Kevin Samuelson said in the announcement. Samuelson said customers tell Infor that general-purpose AI does not grasp the details of their world, citing how a food manufacturer traces a bad lot back through its suppliers and how a distributor reprices when freight costs jump. Alicia Thompson, CTO of Team Air Distributing, said Infor pairs its Industry AI Agents with Forward Deployed Engineers who understand her industry. Shashi Bellamkonda, principal research director at Info-Tech Research Group, said Infor’s focus on industry-specific intelligence, interoperability, and embedded governance addresses several of the practical barriers organizations face as they move from AI experimentation to trusted, measurable outcomes.
Infor will host a live digital event, AI That Moves Your Industry Forward, on October 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. EDT, featuring Samuelson, President and CTO Soma Somasundaram, and customer speakers, with a preview of what is coming across Velocity Suite and live product demonstrations, according to the event page.
