Constructor Embeds Stripe Checkout in Its Onsite AI Shopping Agents

Constructor on October 5, 2026, announced Agentic Checkout, a new capability that integrates Stripe into its onsite AI shopping agents so that shoppers can find and buy products within a single conversation. The functionality is available globally, and Constructor said it is the first company to offer Stripe-powered checkout directly within an onsite shopping agent.
With Agentic Checkout, shoppers on retail sites and apps can discover products, ask questions, receive personalized recommendations, and refine their choices, then check out and pay without leaving the agent experience. Payments run through Stripe, and shoppers can pay with the Link by Stripe digital wallet or with other payment methods. The company said the capability serves both human shoppers and AI agents.
Constructor positioned the launch against what it described as a persistent gap in AI-powered shopping. According to the company, agentic tools have largely focused on helping shoppers discover products, then pushed them back into a traditional, disconnected online flow when they are ready to buy. Agentic Checkout is meant to remove that friction by creating a single, connected discovery-and-checkout experience, which Constructor said keeps shoppers engaged at the moment purchase intent is highest. Citing a Constructor and Shopify report, the company said four in 10 shoppers have already used agentic shopping tools.
From Discovery to Payment in One Conversation
The announcement lays out a three-stage shopper journey. In the discovery stage, a shopper can ask broad, need-based questions — Constructor gives examples such as what to wear to an outdoor fall wedding or how to plan quick, healthy dinners for a family — and receive personalized, in-stock recommendations. As choices narrow, the shopper can ask product-specific questions, such as whether a dress runs true to size or whether tortillas are gluten-free, and get the information needed to decide. Once ready to purchase, the shopper checks out and pays with Stripe directly inside the agent experience.
Constructor’s agents run on what the company calls its Commerce Reasoning Engine, and the company said they learn from each shopper’s behavior across a retailer’s channels to deliver increasingly relevant recommendations. On its Agentic Checkout product page, Constructor states that its agentic shopping experiences are continuously trained through a user feedback loop derived from shoppers’ clickstream data and powered by transformers and large language models.
On the payment side, Stripe supports multiple payment methods inside Constructor’s agents, including Link, which the announcement said is used by 250 million customers. Citing Stripe data, the announcement said 80% of Link customers used a chat-based agent in the past month and half use AI for shopping research at least monthly.
Reported Adoption and Executive Comment
Constructor reported that the number of companies deploying its AI agents increased 900% over the past year, describing adoption as accelerating as retailers prioritize AI that delivers measurable business value.
Eli Finkelshteyn, Constructor’s CEO and co-founder, said in the announcement that the promise of agentic commerce is a shopper expressing what they need and having AI help at every step of the journey. He said delivering on that promise requires pairing strong product discovery with strong checkout, describing Constructor’s work as years spent improving the discovery experience and Stripe’s role as payments infrastructure that lets shoppers buy easily and securely. Together, he said, the two companies make agentic shopping more complete for consumers and more valuable for retailers.
Availability and Retailer Integration
Agentic Checkout is already available within two Constructor products. The AI Shopping Agent lets shoppers describe what they need in natural language and receive guidance based on their context, history, and intent. The AI Product Insights Agent answers product-specific questions directly on product detail pages. Constructor’s product page states that Stripe Checkout and Pay with Link are embedded in the AI Shopping Agent conversation and in the Product Insights Agent chat on product pages.
For retailers already using Constructor’s shopping agents, enabling Stripe-powered checkout requires updating Constructor’s UI library and adding Stripe credentials to its configuration, according to the announcement. Retailers that do not already use Stripe can enable Agentic Checkout without changing their existing payment setup elsewhere, the company said. Constructor said Agentic Checkout will expand to more touchpoints across retailers’ digital properties later this year.
