Meta Launches Meta Enterprise Platform and Taps MongoDB CEO to Lead It

Meta on September 28, 2026 announced Meta Enterprise Platform, saying it will bring the company’s full technology stack to businesses and developers, and said MongoDB President and CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai will join as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer reporting directly to Mark Zuckerberg.
The Platform’s Initial Focus
Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the announcement in a statement published on the company’s newsroom. Zuckerberg described Meta Enterprise Platform as the next major pillar of the business, intended to help businesses use AI to grow and transform in new ways. He said Meta already serves billions of people at scale and helps hundreds of millions of businesses reach customers.
According to Zuckerberg, the platform will use strengths he said few other companies have: advanced models, leading agents, large-scale infrastructure, and years of working closely with many businesses. Initially, Meta will focus on bringing its full technology stack, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code, and more, to businesses and developers to help them grow.
Desai’s Appointment and Career Background
Desai will join Meta as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting directly to Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg described him as an experienced enterprise leader with a track record of building full-stack software and delivering results in AI, infrastructure, business applications, and security, and said he has an extensive industry network that Meta looks forward to partnering with.
Desai joins from MongoDB, where he was CEO and President. Before that, he led product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as President and COO.
Desai’s Strategy and the Muse Security Design
In his own statement, Desai said that over the coming years AI will fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers, and run business operations. He said Meta has a unique role to play because it brings together advanced models and leading agents with a proven track record of helping millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses scale.
Desai said Meta Enterprise Platform will focus on turning Meta’s AI stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own businesses. He said security and privacy are built into Meta’s enterprise products from the outset, as with Muse, and that the goal is to make Meta the place enterprises come to scale their businesses.
The security approach Desai referenced is detailed in a September 8, 2026 Meta AI Research post that accompanied the launch of Muse, Meta’s personal agent. According to the post, each user and their Muse share a dedicated virtual machine in the cloud, and the agent’s core harness runs in an isolated runtime cell built on Linux isolation primitives. A separate host-side component called Sentinel is the sole permission authority for connector actions and all network egress, and a credential surrogation system means the agent never sees real credentials; OAuth tokens for connected third-party services are stored in the user’s virtual machine rather than in centralized Meta infrastructure.
When an action requires user consent, Sentinel sends an approval request directly to the Muse client and execution stops until the user responds, the post said. Meta also said it hardened Muse through dogfooding, agentic red teaming, and issues found by security researchers in a private bug bounty program, and that it opened the Muse bug bounty program to any researcher, with awards of up to $300,000 for valid reports, including up to $130,000 for successful prompt injection attempts that affect one user.
MongoDB’s CEO Transition
MongoDB announced the same day that Desai has stepped down as President and CEO, effective immediately, to pursue a senior role at Meta Platforms. The board appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim President and CEO, also effective immediately. Ittycheria previously served as MongoDB’s President and CEO from 2014 to 2025, and MongoDB said that during that eleven-year tenure the company scaled from approximately $35 million to more than $2.3 billion in annual revenue.
Tom Killalea, chairman of MongoDB’s board of directors, said the company’s business is strong and that Ittycheria knows the company deeply, has remained an involved and active executive board member over the past year, and will step in immediately to ensure a seamless transition. Ittycheria said he was privileged to lead the company for more than a decade, knows the company, its people, and its customers extremely well, and has enormous confidence in the opportunity ahead.
MongoDB’s board has initiated a search for the company’s next permanent CEO and has retained an executive search firm to assist. The company also reaffirmed its guidance for the third quarter and full year of fiscal 2027, which it provided on September 1, 2026.
MongoDB will host an Investor Day at Nasdaq MarketSite on September 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m.–3:15 p.m. ET, where the company said its leadership team will share an in-depth look at its long-term strategy, market opportunities, and product innovation for developer data platforms and AI.
