NVIDIA Adds RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell GPU with 84 GB GDDR7 Memory

NVIDIA listed the RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell Workstation Edition, a professional graphics card carrying 84 GB of GDDR7 memory and built for rack-mounted workstation deployment, on its official product page with availability marked as coming soon. PNY Technologies also lists the card on its own product page.
Rack-Mounted Positioning
The product page presents the card under the tagline “Powering the next era of AI” and invites visitors to sign up to be notified when it becomes available. NVIDIA footnotes the published specifications as preliminary and subject to change.
NVIDIA positions the RTX PRO 5500 for rack-mounted workstation deployment across the enterprise, describing a model in which teams centralize, share, and scale workstation GPU power. The card is offered with a choice of air- or liquid-cooled thermal solutions; the specifications table lists an active air-cooled design and notes the liquid-cooled solution is available in the RXM form factor.
PNY lists the same card under SKU VCNRTXPRO5500B-PB and describes it as professional AI and simulation hardware built for rack-mounted workstations.
Core Specifications
The specifications table identifies the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture with fifth-generation Tensor Cores and fourth-generation RT Cores. Memory is listed at 84 GB of GDDR7 with error-correcting code, bandwidth at 1,398 GB per second, and maximum power consumption at up to 600 W. The card connects over a PCI Express Gen 5 x16 bus and provides up to four DisplayPort 2.1b outputs; NVIDIA says DisplayPort 2.1 can drive displays at up to 8K at 240 Hz and 16K at 60 Hz. The table also lists three ninth-generation NVENC encoders and three sixth-generation NVDEC decoders.
PNY’s listing adds 21,760 CUDA parallel processing cores and a full-height, full-length dual-slot form factor measuring 4.4 inches high by 11.1 inches long.
Multi-Instance GPU support partitions the card into up to two fully isolated instances: one instance with up to 84 GB of memory, or two instances with up to 42 GB each. According to NVIDIA’s FAQ, every instance carries dedicated memory, cache, and compute cores along with guaranteed quality of service, which the company says lets more users draw reliable accelerated computing from the same hardware in rack-mounted deployments.
Stated Performance and Target Workloads
NVIDIA says the fifth-generation Tensor Cores deliver up to 3x the performance of the previous generation and add support for FP4 precision and DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation. The fourth-generation RT Cores deliver up to 2x the previous generation’s performance, according to NVIDIA, with RTX Mega Geometry enabling up to 100x more ray-traced triangles. For video work, NVIDIA says the ninth-generation NVENC engines add 4:2:2 H.264 and HEVC encoding and improve HEVC and AV1 encoding quality, while the sixth-generation NVDEC engines provide up to double the H.264 decoding throughput.
The workload targets on NVIDIA’s page span agentic and generative AI, including large language model inference, AI agents, generative AI, and computer vision, backed by second-generation Transformer Engine support. NVIDIA says the 84 GB of memory holds larger models, longer context windows, and multiple models at once. For physical AI, the page points to NVIDIA Omniverse workflows: Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD)-based 3D, synthetic data generation, and robotics simulation. Also listed are AI-powered rendering with RTX Neural Shaders and DLSS 4, scientific computing and data analytics using FP32 performance, and video production with 4:2:2 and AV1/H.265 support.

PNY lists system requirements of an Intel Core i5, i7, i9, or Xeon processor or later, or an AMD Ryzen or Epyc class processor or later, along with a PCI Express 5.0 x16 expansion slot and system memory greater than or equal to the GPU memory, with twice the GPU memory recommended. Supported platforms include Windows 11 and Windows 10 (64-bit), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 15.x, Fedora 31, Ubuntu 18.04, FreeBSD 11.x, and Solaris 11. The package contains the card and one auxiliary power cable.
PNY also lists the card as NVIDIA RTX PRO Sync compatible, meaning it can synchronize display and image output across up to 32 displays from 8 GPUs connected through two RTX PRO Sync boards in a single system. PNY backs the card with a three-year limited warranty.
